In the name of the Swiss Society of Neuroradiology (SSNR) and the Swiss Federation of Clinical Neurosciences (SFCNS), we have deep regret and sadness to announce the loss of their founding member Professor Anton Valavanis after a long and courageous battle with the disease on May 30, 2023. Anton Valavanis would co-found the SSNR in 1988 with Peter Huber, Ernst-Wilhelm Radü, and Othmar Schubiger [1] and the SFCNS in 2008 (with Claudio Bassetti, Christian Hess, and Gerhard Hildebrand). Anton Valavanis would then lead the SSNR through two tenures as president for 15 years and lead the organization of neuroradiology in Switzerland. Together with Peter Huber, who was chairman in Bern, he would establish and promote neuroradiology in Switzerland, which would grow with centers developing beyond these two initial hospitals throughout the country. …
