To the Editor—The LigaSure™ vessel sealing system (Valleylab, Tyco Healthcare Group, Boulder, CO) for sutureless hemorrhoidectomy is a relatively new device that has been evaluated for its use in same-day surgery and possibly offers the benefit of ease of application, reduced bleeding, shorter hospital stay, less postoperative pain, and faster wound healing.1–3 However, recent reports of anal sphincter injury and fecal incontinence suggest that the procedure is not without complications.4–6 …
