Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) is a rare disease with an estimated incidence of five per million, accounting for 0.5 % of all strokes [
1]. The International Study on Cerebral Vein and Dural Sinus Thrombosis meta-analysis of several prospective studies describes a 15 % overall death or dependency rate with a 4 % death rate in the acute hase [
