To the Editor: We read with great interest the article by Hochwald et al. [1] that evaluated the effectiveness and safety of the combined early treatment with hydrocortisone and dopamine for hypotension in preterm newborns in the first 48 h of life. They suggested that hydrocortisone is effective and not associated with more adverse effects. But, because the preterm babies are a vulnerable population and the corticosteroids are not innocent agents, we would like to make some criticisms on their report. …
