The two invited commentaries about the elegant Swedish study [
1] of routine computed tomographic (CT) scanning for acute abdominal pain offer somewhat different philosophies: the one, by Dr. Saadia of Canada [
3], tends to support a liberal use of CT scanning. The second, by Dr. Andersson [
2] of Sweden, is more skeptical and less enthusiastic, calling for more selective use of abdominal CT scanning. Both commentators make excellent points, but whose “abdominal imaging philosophy” should we support? …
