We were deeply intrigued by the study published in International Orthopaedics, titled Dyslipidaemia is associated with Cutibacterium acnes hip and knee prosthetic joint infection [1]. It evaluated patients exhibiting a positive culture for C. acnes during hip or knee arthroplasty explantation. The authors concluded that dyslipidemia is a pertinent risk factor for C. acnes hip or knee prosthetic joint infections (PJI). The study is commendable and offers valuable insights for surgeons. However, several aspects of the study require further discussion. …
