ABSTRACT
My research examines new ways of persuading citizens to change their behavior towards waste management, and protect the environment. As a first step towards contributing to research, I conducted a user-based study, to find what strategies could be used to motivate national citizens to adopt positive waste disposal behaviors. Mapping the results to their matching persuasive technology techniques and operationalizing them in a mobile web platform, I show how mobile persuasive system interventions could be designed to promote positive and environmentally responsible behaviors and protect the environment from pollution.
