Abstract
PATIENTS with nasopharyngeal carcinomas regularly show high antibody titres directed against Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-specific antigens1,2. The incidence of tumours is high in certain populations of South-east Asia, central Africa and Tunisia, but low in most other parts of the world3,4.
