Zusammenfassung

Abdominale Schmerzzustände können in akute oder chronische bzw. rezidivierende Formen kategorisiert werden.Grundsätzlich sollte versucht werden, die Ursache der Beschwerden zu ergründen und ggf. eine kausale Therapie anzustreben.Sind keine strukturelle Läsion oder keine biochemische Abnormalität als Ursache der Symptomatik nachweisbar,wird eine funktionelle Genese der Symptome angenommen.Für diese ist bis heute keine kausale und damit kurative Behandlung verfügbar.Somit ist es das Ziel der Behandlung, die Symptome bei den betroffenen Patienten ausreichend zu lindern.

Abstract

Abdominal pain syndromes can be categorised into acute or chronic manifestations. In general, diagnostic work-up is targeted upon identification of structural lesions that cause the symptoms and allows therapeutic measures that permanently cure the cause of symptoms.If no structural or biochemical abnormality can be identified upon utilising the necessary diagnostic measures, a functional disorder as the cause of symptoms is assumed.For these disorders no cure is currently available and treatment is targeted towards relief of symptoms only.
