Abstract

Most observers believe that when radiation therapy to the central nervous system is combined with either systemic or intrathecal chemotherapy, neurotoxicity is more likely to result than when either of these modalities is used alone. The evidence for such synergism is best established for methotrexate but other chemotherapeutic agents have also been implicated (Table 1).
