Summary
Two cases of rectal perforation occurring as a result of rectal biopsy followed by barium enema are presented. Both cases terminated in fatality.
To prevent such an undesirable sequence of events, it is suggested that at least 14 days elapse between rectal or sigmoid biopsy and the barium enema study.
