Abstract
The flicker photometric electroretinogram was used to obtain estimates of the L/M cone ratio in trichromatic humans. These estimates were generated by fitting ERG spectral sensitivity functions with weighted sums of M and L cone fundamentals. The average L/M cone ratio so determined for sixteen subjects was about two, a value similar to that derived from various psychophysical procedures. The range of individual variation was quite large (0.7 to 9). We describe an additional subject who makes a normal Rayleigh match, but who appears to have an extremely high L/M cone ratio.
