Abstract

An amputation neuroma is a scattered regeneration similar to the simple regeneration of nerve stumps. It can arise as a result of laceration or traumatic crushing of a nerve. The principal components of neuromas are formed by an exuberant proliferation of nerve fibers and connective tissue of the endo-, peri- and epineurium. There are few cases of amputation neuromas of the orbit; however, they may appear after enucleation of the eye or after exenteration of the orbit.
