Summary
Generally accepted guidelines for phototesting in patients with photosensitive disorders are lacking. We describe herein test procedures for assessment of normal and abnormal light-induced skin reactions. Methods to evaluate the minimal erythemal dose (MED-UV-B, MED-UV-A) and pigmentary response as well as procedures for provocative phototest, photopatchtest and systemic photochallenging are described. Interpretations of the test results are discussed.
