Abstract
Brain swelling from cerebral edema occurring with cerebral ischemia and infarction may cause neurologic deficits or death. To achieve an understanding of the pathophysiology of cerebral infarction and to develop a rational treatment for cerebrovascular diseases, studies of ischemic cerebral edema are needed. Thus, the development and resolution of ischemic cerebral edema have been investigated in an experimental model of cerebral ischemia.
