Localization of galanin cell bodies in the brain by immunocytochemistry and in situ hybridization histochemistry

Part of the book series: Wenner-Gren Center International Symposium Series ((WGS))

Abstract

Two complete stereotaxic atlases of the discrete localization of galanin (GAL) immunoreactive (ir) nerve fibers and cell bodies in the rat central nervous system have been published (Skofitsch and Jacobowitz, 1985a; Melander et al., 1986). Following colchicine pretreatment GAL-ir cells and fibers were observed to be widely distributed in the brain.
