The Greater OMENTUM

Abstract

The greater omentum is the free hanging mesenteric tissue apron in the peritoneal cavity, arising from the stomach and covering the intestines (Fig. 1). The lesser omentum is the membrane be tween the lesser curvature of the stomach and the liver hilum. Though both structures have the same name they differ in shape, morphology, development, and functional behavior. In this book by “omentum ” we understand the greater omentum.
