Zusammenfassung
Der Beckenring nimmt eine Schlüsselfunktion in der Verbindung des Rumpfskeletts mit den unteren Extremitäten ein. Neben der Fähigkeit hohe Kräfte überzuleiten ist der Beckenring Ursprung und Ansatz einer Vielzahl von Muskeln, die den aufrechten Gang möglich machen, und umschließt Organe sowie wichtige große Leitungsbahnen für die unteren Extremitäten. Aufgrund seiner äußeren Form und des ausgezeichneten Muskelmantels (◘ Abb. 8.1) werden innere Organe, die großen Gefäße (◘ Abb. 8.2) und Nervenbahnen (◘ Abb. 8.3) recht gut geschützt. Da nur eine massive Gewalteinwirkung die knöcherne Ringstruktur des Beckens eines erwachsenen, knochengesunden Menschen zerstören kann, besteht bei traumatischen Unterbrechungen des Beckenrings immer ein erhöhtes Risiko von Begleitverletzungen der inneren Organe und der Leitungsbahnen.
