Protein biomarkers play an essential role in diagnosis of cardiovascular disease. This review will mainly focus on recent development of biomarkers, namely those for aortic dissection and oxidized LDL markers, but also on new aspects including efforts to use mass spectrometry in clinical medicine, while discussing on historical perspectives to better illustrate our relative contributions and progress.
