Our research builds on previous studies in gynecologic oncology, focusing on the transition from conventional laparoscopy to robot-assisted laparoscopy. The ROBOGYN-1004 trial demonstrated that although RL does not significantly outperform conventional laparoscopy in reducing severe perioperative morbidity, it does require longer operation times and results in higher blood loss volumes.
1 A distinct advantage of robot-assisted laparoscopy, however, is its ergonomic benefit, significantly reducing surgeons’ physical workload and discomfort during procedures, particularly compared with the demanding postures required by conventional laparoscopy.
2 This ergonomic advantage suggests potential long-term benefits for surgeon well-being and performance, highlighting the necessity to weigh both patient outcomes and surgeon ergonomics in assessing the value of robotic-assisted surgical techniques. …
