Abstract

Background

Epidermoid cyst in the cerebellopontine angle (CPA) can involve numerous critical structures. Endoscopic assistance following microscopic removal via a retrosigmoid approach can expand the surgical corridor, allowing for more complete resection.

Method

We describe in a stepwise fashion the surgical steps for the microscopic removal of an epidermoid cyst of the CPA with endoscopic assistance.

Conclusion

Endoscopically assisted microscopic removal for CPA epidermoid cysts provides wide access to the CPA and its adjacent structures and shows to be an effective option in selected cases.
