Increasing Healthcare System Empathy for Patients with Advanced Liver Disease: My Top 10 Lessons in Palliative Hepatology

I am a transplant hepatologist who has a specific clinical and research focus on palliative hepatology. I have defined palliative hepatology as follows: Holistic care given to patients with advanced liver disease and their families to improve their quality of life over the entirety of their illness trajectory, both to and through transplantation and at the end of life.
