Choosing the most appropriate treatment approach for elderly esophageal cancer patients is a challenge. Currently, definitive concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) and surgery are the standard treatments for elderly patients with resectable esophageal cancer who have a good performance status. However, advanced age often makes elderly patients unsuitable for surgical treatment due to the increased surgical risks.
