Prior to the advent of screening mammography (SM), breast cancers were detected based on clinical findings at a later stage and required more aggressive treatment, leading to higher mortality. Multiple studies have shown a reduction in breast cancer mortality in women who undergo SM,1 probably owing to early detection in conjunction with more localized treatment. Screening programs began expanding across the country, and the Mammography Quality Standards Act passed in 1992 ensured high-quality mammography for early breast cancer detection. Since then, mammography technology has improved, and a debate regarding its risks and benefits has been held in the literature. …
