Key summary points

Aim

To establish the optimal weekly duration and session length of Tai chi required to enhance sleep quality in healthy older individuals.

Findings

Tai chi practice of at least 150 min per week significantly improves sleep quality in the older people. Extending the duration of individual tai chi practice sessions or the exercise programme does not yield additional benefits for sleep quality.

Message

For older individuals, a weekly Tai chi regimen of at least 150 min is optimal for sleep quality improvement, with longer sessions being more beneficial.
