In 2011, the US Federal Drug & Administration (FDA) released a report that breast implants were associated with anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL),1 and 5 years later in 2016, the World Health Organization (WHO) recognized it as breast implant-associated ALCL (BIA-ALCL), a diagnosis separate from other lymphomas.2
